RETS PRO REVIEWS - Canada Real Estate Lawyers conflict

I'm a first time homebuyer who just recently had our offer accepted.

I am buying in another location, so had already reached out to a lawyer (there) and notary (here). The lawyer was a recommendation from a friend; he has worked with him extensively in the past, but I have a previous relationship with him.

I just got an email from him, stating that the buyers had also approached him for representation. As I "retained" him first (no money has changed hands, but I have sent off the accepted offer paperwork to him), he is asking me to sign a conflict letter. Gist of it is that if a conflict arose, we would both need outside solicitors.

I should just say no, right? I'm not sure I would care too much, had he not also mentioned their firm has worked with the buying Realtor in the past.
